My story began in 2005 when my family and I were on vacation in Hawaii. One of the goals of the trip was to find cute bathing suits for my three year old daughter, Laura, who had become quite the little swimmer. I searched and searched, but where were the young girl’s bathing suits? After hours of driving around the streets of Honolulu, I finally found what I was looking for. The perfect swim suits. They were adorable - hand made by a local islander, and the timeless styles were made of bright Hawaiian prints. I bought four.

Fast forward two years. I was planning another trip, this time to Costa Rica, with my family. The Hawaiian suits had held up beautifully. Laura was swimming all the time, both in the pool and at the beach. She had, however, grown in the past two years and her little bum was peeking out of the bottom of the suits. I looked for replacement swim suits both in local stores and on line. I found nothing that compared to the quality and designs of the beautiful handmade bathing suits I had purchased in Hawaii. Short of flying to Hawaii to purchase those particular swim suits, Laura was destined to walk the beaches in sub fashion swim garb. I gave up and Laura wore beautiful bathing suits that were just a little too small on the beaches of Costa Rica.

For anyone who hasn’t spent an extended length of time in another culture, relaxing and taking in all that the experience has to offer, let me tell you, it is a great way to clear your mind of all that excess debris that builds up from daily life. As a teacher of many years I was happy with the thought that I would spend my life as a social servant. I love teaching, but, how else could I enhance my life? I’ll tell you what I did. As my mind cleared I kept going back to those darling bathing suits. Well, if I couldn’t find them (and I tried so very hard) then no one else could. Unless you happen to be in Hawaii and happen to walk down the right street, then you do not even know they exist. So the idea hit me. The teacher, Laura’s mother, could become an entrepreneur. Why not? I’m smart. I’m organized. I’m personable. I could market these suits under the label of Seahorse Styles of Monterey Bay and the world could be as smitten with their beautiful little girls in stylish swim suits as I was. The parents of the world could spot their daughters down the beach dressed in bright tropical colors that make them stand out in a crowd!

I now proudly offer to you quality, colorful girls swimsuits bearing the label MADE IN HAWAII that will make a fashion statement whether it is on the beach, at the pool or playing in the sprinklers.
